during nap time...

... today...

I recently woke up from having an afternoon nap. Something that I do not usually do because I do not need to. Because I do not need to I usually spend that time as quiet time with any of my children that are left awake. Quiet time in the afternoon is important to me. It is the only time of the day that I have the opportunity to replenish myself and prepare for the afternoon.

Without quiet time, our afternoon's can get really crazy which leaves the hours between 4-6pm a nightmare (you know, kids getting sleepy/tired/being cranky and having to prep for dinner while making a sometimes futile attempt at getting the home presentable for the working-hubby).

So today as I felt myself drifting off I put the three youngest children to bed and left the oldest, the smartest, the wisest child in the lounge room playing quietly.

But when I woke up I could hear the distant voices of three children. DISTANT means they are outside... or behind a closed door... But I could hear them OUTSIDE! OH LORD!!!

How long had they been out there? What were they doing? How many are out there?

So I wander to the door to find THREE KIDS IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE CAR!!!

WHAT???

I am so glad that THIS time they are ALL safe! But we do not OWN a little car, not that that would matter. But if something had happened its a giant car that could do a fair amount of damage. It could rip our entire carport down by bumping softly into one beam...

But when I tell them ALL to get INSIDE I could hear them saying OH YUCK POO's

Oh that's just fantastic isn't it!?? They are IN my car, ON my seat, he has no nappy on and they are yelling out poos. Great...

So not impressed...

So I had a talk with them about playing outside when mummy can't watch and how its dangerous and I think... or rather I hope... that they seriously have gotten the message.

So. Guess what we'll be discussing during the week... Safety and playing in cars.

5 Things I am Thankful for:
1. The sleep that I got
2. That my children were all unharmed
3. Handbrake is hard to get off
4. The children appeared to get the message
5. That the toddler is FINALLY having is nap

ETA: The nappy was ON when the child was IN the car. He just took it off when he had gotten OUT of the car. Greatly relieved... & uhm... They had managed to take the handbrake OFF :( But it was still left in gear... PHEW... Even more relieved.
