We were given the opportunity to join our home school kid in with our local christian primary for swimming lessons.
At lunch time everyday for the past two weeks I've been diligently taking this child and more to the local pools and watching the splashing and the kicking and flapping arms.
It's been a real pain!! Right in the middle of the day, right in the middle of seeing Papa for his lunch break, right during child feed time.
So much so I've forgotten to take kids to their other events such as kindy gym and dancing. I am very unhappy with myself. *sigh*
Anyway...
It has been a pleasure to watch my son give it his all. He's been flapping those arms wild, crazy and strong. He's not going to pass this level this time but he's shown great character throughout the process.
With a joyful playfulness he keeps having his go.
He's even been in the deep pool and swam 10m & 15m freestyle with a board and also survival back stroke.
He told me yesterday (day 9) that it was too hard (survival backstroke).
He swam his one length then was asked if he wanted to go again. He said no. His Papa said have another go so he went in AGAIN and did that dreaded survival backstroke (legs only holding a board) and did it well. I could see the terror in his face being in that pool. You see the pride in his face when he gets out and realizes what he's just done. But I also saw him suddenly relax as he must've realised he wasn't going to drown and kept going.
I'm pleased with his efforts and the way he's been keeping at it, listening well and following instructions. It's good for this mummy to see..
Last day today *yay*
