Back to school

As most other people still have 4 weeks of school holidays we are right back into it. Wait. We didn't really stop.

We don't do school holidays on the basis we learn everyday. We might not teach everyday but children are certainly learning on a daily basis. It doesn't stop at 3pm when the school bell rings or start at 9am.

Yesterday we were given an electric steamer for veges. Isaiah spent an hour putting it together, claimed he wanted veges for lunch, chopping potato, filling it up, getting vege in , turning it on and watching it cook. Yep. Watching it.

A few hours later (like one) he was hungry again and needing fish. He tells me you can cook fish in it because of the picture on the machine.

A few hours after that he was hungry and needed more veges.

He ended up clearing the table, setting the table, and cooking a family of 6 dinner. Roast beef & gravy with veges.

Tell me that's NOT learning.

Today we went to the skate park with several others. Our first time and I didn't get a picture. :(
There was socializing, balancing, getting hurt, waiting, speed, etc etc etc.

They need to figure out a variety of scientific theories in order to stay upright. I believe one word is enertia? Energy? Speed? Gravity? Force? All things that are taught in high school using paper and pens.

Whilst they don't understand the theories behind these practical experiences they surely will in time.

We will definitely be going back again. Lots. With theoreticals in hand. Also a variety of objects to conduct experiences/races/just have a bit of fun..

Right this moment (besides being a pain) Isaiah is using a camera. My camera actually. He likes taking photos and videos. I don't quite like being featured but I suck it up. Things you do for kids eh?!

I also allowed Isaiah to pick up the parcel from the post office. With two sleeping babies in the car I wasn't getting them out for a quick parcel pick up. Though I also wasn't keen to let them just sit by themself. So I stood in the middle watching both and allowing a 6yr old to pick up a parcel. He did a good job.

We've also done reading including first readers in this new year. I've been begged to do school work too.

Then there was the beach. Boogie boarding in the surf. That's learning. That's fun learning. We will go back again to that :)

They did a lot of socializing with other kids, playing games, and other weird stuff.

We now have a worm farm going. More schooling.

More ducks in the back yard.

Still lots of chickens.

Plans of a potted vege garden.

So there you go.
Schooling.
Naturally.
