Feast of Purim

If you've ever read the book of Esther you would know that Haman had plans to have the Jews killed off (like Hitler).

You would also know that an ordinary everyday girl was chosen to be queen, wife to the King. Her name became Esther.

A queen was never allowed to approach her husband the king without being summond.

However, Esther was a Jew, and Haman had plans of killing her friends and family and even herself if people discovered her heritage.
Esther approached the king and told him of Hamans plans. Doing so saved her life and landed Hanan and his sons on the gallows.

The feast of Purim (found in chapter 9) is about feasting and celebrating (joy) the victory that occurred. It's about rejoicing in the triumphs.

For me, I think about where I was and where God has brought me to. I think about the victories that have occurred in my life through Christ. Thinking about these things makes me feel joyful inside, like an overcomes.

I like the message of Purim. I like that they celebrated this event that became a written book in the bible. I like that people celebrated it.

If you read from the chapter it says to give gifts and another part says give gifts of food.

It also states to never stop doing this.

Thursday was the Feast of Purim. Our family celebrated this for the first time this year. I have enjoyed my day. In fact my entire day has been associated with joy, celebration and feasting. I would have liked to have done up something special as a keepsake for our family but I ran out of time. I would have liked to have made some food gifts to give as Purim gifts but I had no time. But this is okay.

I like the way the feasts help us to know Jesus better.

So now I'm off to watch "One Night with the King" the modern version of Esther...

I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I enjoyed mine.
Blessings to you and yours xx
