Camping: Our Family Love

For some {unknown} reason this non-adventurous wife & mother likes to go camping, away from everyday life, away from the equipment that requires batteries or power to operate & get back to creation, with the people that I love & cherish the most of course.

Except this lil thing... She is not my friend, she is not my traveling companion, and she was not a joy having to sit between my legs in our over-packed car, up & down, around & around in our 4WD.

Actually I don't always enjoy the trip out, too many car accidents, too many trees, too many near misses, Yeah! I got issues!... I'll admit it.

The Hero, pumping up the flattened Air Bed, that he later let out so we could sleep on the solidly hard cold floor - Did I mention I was not impressed?

Typical "US" packing, kids jammed in, stuff jammed in... We are seasoned travelers. We've done this plenty times before.

Hard @ Work setting up camp
The Scene, Our Campsite, Our View
Yep, this place has great views ALL round
Peaceful, Serene, Quiet, Alone...

We home school out there, natural learning. The kids love it.

I don't like the packing and unpacking though. Makes me not want to go. & I do NOT like traveling with the dog at my feet. Seriously, next time the dog stays home!!

Shoom Shoom

Grenet

Are words used to describe or name something that we don't know the name of...

atleast in *OUR* house...

Isn't he clever? He came up with them all on his own.

5 Things I am Thankful for:
1. A name to name the things I don't know the name of
2. The iniative of this kid who creates words to describe something
3. The genius behind the name creating
4. The kid himself
5. The laugh that this child brings into my heart

You Missed!!!

{photograph taken February 2010. Isaiah aged 4, Amalia aged 2, Jarah 8 months.}

Have you ever noticed how parents, friends and family members play little games with their children? I think the most common 'game' is "BOO" where you cover there eyes or view and when you remove it, say "boo". Most kids love it. Actually it is so fantastic that it (can) make a crying baby/toddler/child/adult laugh. Yep I am one of those adults that still finds that game amusing (but please don't do it to me).

I am so in love with my children (have you noticed?) and I want them to know it... I (like to) play 'hard-to-get' so I tell my child to give me a kiss... but then I move and announce that they missed... Years ago my firstborn would get frustrated because he'd keep missing. Now he's getting clever-er and is holding me down, climbing on furniture and even managing to fool me.

Some times I'll just move back a bit, others I'll cover myself with a blanket and they'll try find me, or I'll hold them away taunting them with the words 'you missed!' They laugh their heads off. Used so wonderfully after a tanty is ending or time out has finished and they are a bit upset. Least they know that even with discipline I still love them so very very much...

I do find it amusing when they do it back to me and tell me that I missed...

5 Things I am Thankful for:
1. That naturalness of a fond memory
2. The laughter that our game brings
3. They joy that fills our hearts and faces
4. Time spent with my children
5. Photographic memories

Pink Milk

Today I braved the shops to do groceries right before the easter break weekend and in the middle of school holidays. It was crazy but the kids were great.

I am feeling quite chuffed at a 'savings' that I made today. Not sure why it never occured to me before. I bought a 1L carton of milk AND a tin of strawberry nesquick. The little 250ml pink milks are $1.55 so I saved myself .80cents :) but it means that we can have pink milk until its all gone. SCORE!!

I remember drinking nesquik as a kid. Creating family traditions/memories for our children. And yeah I do feel it important to create things for our children to remember in years to come :)

5 Things I am Thankful for:
1. Slight saving on the pink milk
2. Kids being good at the shops
3. Aunty Katie being there to help/do her shopping
4. A checkout opening just in front of me
5. Having a small grocery list
