My oldest son is quite independent, has been since a young age.
I still recall the look on his face that day he was tinkering in the kitchen and came out with a full buttered piece of bread with Vegemite. Not your regular blob of butter but spread out butter from crust to crust.
He was 18 months old.
I've had an over exerted week end that followed a busy week that delivered me into another busy week and an overly busy weekend.
Yeah, I'm always busy but not usually this busy. I usually get chill time. I've had none.
So I was tired, go to bed and sleep all night tired.
I said to Mr 7 "I might go to bed and sleep, can you look after the kids? Drive my car down town and take Amalia to gymnastics"
He says "I can ride my bike and take her!"
Me "haha funny" and off I go to lie down.
I'm lying down resting for the 5 minutes I have before I need to wake the baby and get in the car to take her to gymnastics. And I hear the gate.
I go out to check what's happening to see Amalia on the scooter, Isaiah with his bike and helmet. They are ready and rearing to go. Alone. Without me.
I call them back in. Isaiah is a bit upset because he was taking her. He had it all under control.
.........................................
I ask Isaiah to please take the stuff off his wardrobe. His wardrobe sits next to his bunk so he uses that special space to store things he doesn't want the other children to have access to.
He asks if we are going to take it with us when we move. I say no we are going to chuck it out.
I walk off, and hear tinkering going on. Next thing a door comes wondering through, and a satisfied grin pokes its head over the side. He's taken the cupboard door off.
Next I hear banging. He's kicked a hole in the back of it. Trying to push the back of the cupboard off so he can collapse it. He does manage to pull the thing apart, it's now lying in pieces out the front yard awaiting a tip run.
.............................................................
We got the house, which means we are moving. Probably the beginning of January. So I'm still packing and moving things around bit by bit. I hate packing and I hate moving so its a bit tedious but much more gleeful in that we are moving to a bigger more suitable home to live in, finally, thank you Jesus!!
With this new house I look forward to allowing Isaiah more free reign in his creations, for example building a cubby house out of wood :)
It's going to be great =D
