Not What I Said

This morning as I gave instructions to one child to put the milk away she frivolously didn't and as a result another child poured milk into the oat container.

Not impressed. So I smacked them both. Just kidding. I sent them both into time out. One for not doing what they were told and the other for playing with food, making a mess and wasting money. It's been done before (lots) and so they know it's not the right thing to do... Ever.. He's two. So training, discipline (discipling) and consequences are required.

As I dealt with the issues, reminded them of correct behaviors, gave kisses, cuddles and told them I loved them i continued on with the days morning preparations.

I cleaned out the oats scooping out the wet ones to see what can be salvaged. Quite a lot thankfully. I thought we will make Anzac biscuits or do baking later in the day. Not impressed that all that milk and oats were once again wasted. It costs us money every time this sort of thing happens. I'm not too impressed but I love these kids more than spilt milk and fewer oats.

I asked one older child please take the spilled oats to the chooks in the watermelon and left the room. A few minutes later this child returns with an empty can of oats.

That was the rest of the oats. the fresh batch. The clean bits. The stuff I was going to bake with. Sorry honey no Anzacs for you today.

Sighing I tell the child honey that's not what I meant. I meant the spilled oats that is IN the watermelon and showed her. Oh is her reply.

You win some - you lose some.
And on with our day...
