So, if you've been reading my blog for a little while you would know that 1. I am a Christian who prays, reads the bible and believes Jesus was present the days that God spoke the world into existence. And 2. That Michael has incubated and hatched out some ducklings and chickens.
If you know a little bit about ducks and chooks you would know that ducks float and chickens do not.
Now, as a homeschooling mum it's my choice that I may have a midday bath if I so get the desire and the opportunity to do so. Today both arose.
With instructions to a younger child to get a duck or two they had a little swim. Then got put back to their warm box with heat lamp to dry out and do what ever they do.
Refreshed from such luxuries I might have taken the opportunity to rest awhile.. Or msg a special someone *Hi V* when Isaiah (6) came to inform me that the chicken is wet and he is not sure if it is alive or dead. Cos it looks dead.
So I check it and yep it looks dead. Except it's still breathing. I tried to pick it up to see how bad it was and I could feel its lung filled with water. It was a terrible sight. 1. For being soaked to the bone and 2. For having a giant sized lump and heaving to breathe and not being able to move and it's breathing slowing down.
I am informed that the children re-put the ducks in the bath and Jarah (2) threw a chicken in. He's done it before but I got it out just as fast as it got thrown in.
I thought "Oh this is just great! Now I have to tell Michael that I wasn't supervising and we've lost a chicken"
Taking a cue from my 6 yr old Prince (who prayed for the kitten who limped badly after being shut in the front door by accident... The same front door that amputated Miss Avigail's little finger and hasn't had a problem. Didn't think that one would live) I decided to pray for the water logged fluff.
I asked that Father would empty its lungs of the water and make him well and perhaps a few more things.
Once prayer was done I left the room and the children to watch the thing die.
Isaiah says its not dying any more cos we prayed. Then ran off. He returned moments later to announce that it is not dying anymore it's walking.
Pfft!!
So I got up to check.
Now from the time I left the room to the time I heard it could walk I managed to type 3 text messages and receive 1. That was it. And I'm a fast one finger iPhone typer iykwim!!
So. I get up to check. I peer into the box to see a wet walking chick. (See picture below)
Half hour later it's dry, fluffy, walking and looks NO different to the other 3!!!
5 Things I am Thankful for:
1. Prayer. It really works
2. Child like faith
3. Reminder of what God can do
4. Undeniable testimony of His greatness
5. That He cares about the little things. Like chickens dying...
