Friday night I was at work. We had decided to close at 8pm. It was 7:55 and we were gearing up to close.
My phone rang. It was my husband. I hung up on him because I was busy. He doesn't usually ring while I'm at work. He called back straight away.
I answered on the basis it is unusual for him to call and call immediately back. We were face timing (video conference).
He says "I need you to come home"
Me "why?" *rolling eyes and thinking he's manly enough to get 5 kids to bed (had an extra that night).
He says "because if this:" and turns the camera to my 3yr old son Jarah.
Jarah had a gash the length of his forehead with blood pouring out. Blood across his nose. Blood all over his now swollen lips.
I'll admit it. I'm not perfect. Don't claim to be. I swore. Loudly.
I told my co-worked that I had to go. He asked where and I said home. My kid. Nice hey!
I shut the door on the way out. Closing the shop.
I called my mother-in-law who was at home with an adult daughter. I asked if she can go watch my kids cos I have to take jarah to hospital. She asked what happened and I told her I don't know.
Next I called my husband back. I said get that kid out the front NOW.
MIL & SIL was first on the scene. Hubby jumped in with my bleeding son and I took off to emergency. This is when I actually learned what had happened.
Leaving work like that is totally not me or my style. So I called my beloved SIL in to cover the rest of my shift. How amazing is she! After messing her around with confusing messages she went in and cleaned up with the boys. Another guy came in too. How amazingly awesome is THAT!
Anyway, we waited for 40 minutes in emergency where I could literally see this head wound healing! The lump / swelling from the impact had begun to reduce in size, the bleeding slowed down and he seemed a bit better.
The nurse had a look and said shell clean it up but it looks like just a steri-strip job. The dr checked him, asked questions and said yeh it looks good. The nurse cleaned him up and put lil steri-strips to hold the wound together while it heals. He got a shot of Panadol too.
He sat there knowing he was a special boy. In hospital. His first hospital trip for himself. With his mummy & papa and no other kids.
We stopped off at my work and mik took him home and put him into our bed where we could keep a closer eye on him.
He says it doesn't hurt but it's a little bit itchy on the sides where it's drying out.
So what happened?
Jarah and Isaiah were in the boys room making a cubby. It was almost done and they were about to have lights out. Mik heard a horrible thud noise, then Jarah cry and was about to call out for Isaiah to give jarah a cuddle when he heard Isaiah state in a panic voice GO TO PAPA NOW!
One of the boys must have pulled a side sheet to the cubby which pulled a heavy old style oil heater over and into Jarahs face. He was lying on the ground. The heater was turned off ;)
Anyway, the good picture that I saw was two little angels holding the oil heater up. If that oil heater fell on your toe it could easily slice your toe off. The fact that these wounds are small in nature is testimony that my son is protected by angels.
We are all very Thankful KNOWING it could have been MUCH MUCH WORSE.
My MIL had a panic & contacted her friend (pastors wife) who texted her husband (pastor) who was at a meeting with several people, lots of our friends. They stopped the meeting to pray for my precious little son. How precious is that!
Ok, so now for pictures...
(My Favourite is walking in from work to find my two boys snuggled together. Precious son sleeping comfortably in his strong papas arms)
