Peer groups and socialization

The joy in a flexible self-paced curriculum is the freedom to drop 'school work' and head to the beach for some relationship building and encouragement with a group of people from all ages.

I was thinking that morning how I mixed with peers from kindy to year 12. I was accustomed to seeking advice and wisdom from peers. People my OWN age. Now I'm thinking how RIDICULOUS that is! They were in the same stage of life as me, they knew what I knew, we were taught the same stuff.

As a new believer in the church I seeked information from peers. People who had grown up in the church and they couldn't answer my questions. I tend to speak as if that was the entire congregation which of course it totally wasn't and isn't.

I wasn't seeking wisdom from people who knew what I was on about, and I've paid the price dearly.

Now this might not have been an issue for you, but it has been and is for me. Even now I tend to have a them (older people) and us (younger people) mentality.

But I'm getting there ;)
