I'm sure there are a few of you who would really not like the feeling of cold spaghetti. Well, kids love it, especially babies. I couldn't resist giving some coloured spaghetti a go and it turned out really well.
This is a sensory activity that's great for developing sensory awareness and fine motor control. It's also lots of fun for kids.
HOW TO COLOUR SPAGHETTI FOR PLAY
Over cook some long spaghetti, drain and rinse under cold water.
Allow it to dry over about an hour and shake apart regularly.
Add two or three drops of food colouring.
I suggest you don't add any more as it may stain little fingers.
Much like our rice colouring, shake the bag of pasta until it is stained completely.
Be prepared for it not to stain evenly throughout the whole pasta, however, I like that.
Once you have coloured your pasta, again set it aside but regularly shake it apart to avoid
it all sticking together in one clumpy mess.
Let the fun begin!!!!
I suggest you lay out a few towels where your little one can play.
Possum had a great time! She was laughing and giggling the whole time!
This type of play tastes good too!!
Rubbing the pasta between her hands was an interesting sensation for her.
She also found it between her toes.
So have a go at this great sensory activity, your little one will love it and if they don't it will still help them experience an interesting sensation that benefits learning.
