This is my best 'whip it up' recipe that always delights guests and their children.
They are super quick to make and have very few ingredients. Love that.
I got this recipe from my mum when I first left home.
I guess she was worried I'd just eat McDonalds every day. hahaha
HERE IS MY BASIC (and I mean basic)
SCONE RECIPE!!!!!
BASIC SCONE RECIPE
3 cups of self-raising flour
1 cup Sprite (not flat)
1 cup cream
(Tablespoon of milk for browning - optional)
Throw it all together and mix before lightly kneading on a floured surface.
Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough and use a glass to cut into scone size.
My scones were about 1. 5cm in thickness.
Brush with some milk.
You can use an egg wash (egg and milk), however, my little girl can't eat egg so I used milk.
Place in a hot oven 200c for about 15-20 minutes or cook until golden brown.
Serve with a slab of butter, jam and cream or enjoy them as they are.
DELICIOUS!!!
