Scrubbing the floor clean... and other tidbits...

For a while my floors have been desperate of a good scrub and mop... Today the job FINALLY got done. Finally got my single goal for the day completed only 3 days late. What a success!

I started early this morning... Took 3 chairs into the hall way... 3 more to go...Then I felt like going out so I did... then a bit more in the arvo... and the rest later on. Removing the table from the kitchen area (Plastic trestle table atm - very classy?! Easy to move from place to place)

Next came the bucket of hot hot water... and the mop... and a pile of scrubbing brushes...

I am always prepared for spills and rivers of water with nappy flats easy to get to, ready and waiting.

Then I tottle off to FB while my 3 excited children start mopping and scrubbing.

I mop out a gerkin from under the water cooler. How long had that been there? I say "Oohhh a pickle" (a sign of too much veggie tales??) Isaiah (5) replies "Oh! No that's a GERKIN FINGER" ha ha my mistake :P

Further on... I am using the mop... Isaiah says "My turn"....... "My turn"...... (screams) "My turn" before realises that is not the way one speaks to Mummy and politely reminds non-sharing-type-hyprocrite-mother "You need to share"... Whoops... Don't make that mistake at home fellow mummies!!

So I am keeping a careful watch on the amount of water on the floor. I grab some nappy flats/floor towels and ask Isaiah are we ready for these yet? He says not yet... lol... But then we are ready to wipe the floor clean... and NO we don't get down on our hands and knees we throw the towels on the floor and use our feet to skate around the kitchen.

I let my 5yr old lead the *ahem* exciting activity for the afternoon *cough* and 'did what HE told ME' instead of me telling him. Although I did direct him in what was what asking if he'd did that corner. It is amusing hearing a child of his size and age asking me if *I* did *my* part. But I did so I was spared.

I do believe (in part atleast) that it is our job to teach or direct or show our children how to be in leadership roles and lead effectively and, well, KINDLY...

It was actually fun and funny and enjoyed by all. I am positive that when Michael comes home from work momentarily before racing off to youth group he might enjoy the clean kitchen floor too...

5 Things I am Thankful for:
1. GRACE... in the upkeep of our home when 'other' things are happening that prevents such cleanliness
2. That Godliness is NOT next to Cleanliness... Or I'd be up a creek without a paddle
3. The quickness that SOME jobs get done once started
4. Those 'annoying' times that made me take longer to get the floors mopped and scrubbed that I had to SHARE ;) the mop or the scrubbing brushes with little children. It has meant that NOW (ages later then those annoying times) the children can do the job
5. A son, who is a natural born leader, with a servant heart who helps, and does. EVEN though he is a challenge, a handful, a strong-willed child with a mind of his own

ETA: When My SIL Mrs Bell ;) gets here I am going to show off my sparkly kitchen floor and brag... THEN we are going to go SHOPPING...
