Glitter Discovery Bottle

Discovery bottles are wonderful and give babies lots of pleasure. They develop a greater understanding of weight and co-ordination by simply holding the object. They are incredibly easy to make and cost very little.

Here is how to do it -

First, find a bottle that is small in size and would be easy enough for a baby to hold. I suggest a small bottle because once they are filled with water and other bits they can become quite heavy.

Remove all stickers and clean the bottle really well in warm soapy water. Don't throw away the lid!

Fill 1/2 the bottle with water.

Use a cheap brand of clear baby oil and fill the bottle almost to the top. The reason we don't fill it completely is because we don't want it to over flow when we add our decorative pieces.

Add a few drops of food colouring to the mixture. I highly recommend not going too crazy with the food colouring. If you add too much the water will darken to the point that it is hard to see what is in it. Remember, you can always add more later.

Now is the fun part. Add whatever items you like!

Add lots of glitter, lots.

Be sure the lid is screwed on tightly and SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE!!!

Add more pieces if you feel that's what it needs.

POSSUM LOVES IT!!!!
