With lil kids involved everyday can be an adventure. I seek adventure often. Usually child-friendly and cost-effective.
Today's adventure saw us head down town to deposit saved money & earnt money into one child's bank account. He's saving for china. He decided himself to save for china and I'm choosing to go along with it, help him out freely by providing the finance, and hopefully teach him how to be a savings child.
Whilst the boy can add and do basic maths on a first grade level, he doesn't know or have a money concept. I havnt bothered teaching him actually ;)
So this is our first REAL hands on introduction to the world of finance. Adding, subtracting, savings, tithing, banks.
I'm also attempting to teach him politeness and speaking to staff about what he wants. And keep still while waiting.
We bought a plate each of 'cake stall food' raising money for our china friend Bev who is a foster carer with Doves Wings for china orphans.
Isaiah chose choc chip cookies, jarah chose muffins all decorated differently, amalia chose choc fudge brownies with sprinkles on top and I chose honey rice bubble crackles.
We then donated money to a lady selling poppy flowers. What are they for? I honestly don't remember.
I bumped into a friend who was buying my overlocker. She paid me, I went picked it up and delivered it to her. Through a simple transaction like that my children learnt and asked questions.
On the way home children announced they wanted to go somewhere. Amalia wanted to go to the park, Isaiah wanted to look at boats. We looked at boats over the ocean while munching on our chosen cake stall food item.
So many questions asked and a few even answered.
The drive home resulted in asking a zillion questions about the bridge works, trucks and then trains. How are trains trailers pulled apart? I don't know! But they are. All an adventure to little children.
Finally home.. Chilling..
Children have created cars out of boxes. Some with trailers. They've packed the trailer, eaten breakfast, gotten dressed and are going camping. I can hear the tents being made, fire started, hash browns cooked for dinner, people standing on the fire and even tents being locked. They even made one for the baby and take her for rides too!
Haha one kid got bogged but they were pulled out ;)
I've rested/chilled while listening to them playing and role playing and using their imaginations.
I've struggled a bit with the 'no formal book work' but need to remember what truly matters and makes a difference in the lives of my children!
Relationship & Family.
5 things I am Thankful for:
1. Belief in the little adventures
2. This is the day that The Lord has made
3. I will be glad and rejoice in it
4. Money & finances
5. Being able to give freely (without starving my family!)
