Today mik put two loads of washing on. I am reminded why I do the washing. He put a towel in with clothes and that whole load is fluffy. He said 'it was only one' so I replied yes but only a little bit of yeast works it's way through a loaf of bread. He saw my point. It was actually 3 towels *sigh*
During the washing in the machine we went to the local shop to buy bread and supplies for our day. Ended up buying meat from a butcher (novel experience) and some extras as well as checking out what they had in the centre.
When we got back we hung the washing up with our brand newly purchased pegs ($7) to save dryer $$ what a huge saving!! I checked the tag on my much wanted-to-wear-right-now-skirt to discover it said no drying in the dryer!! That was close.. Too close.. I put it on wet and it dried in moments ;) haha
Anyway.. We drove to the city and into scitech. It was awesome!! The kids loved it. I loved it and mik even said it was good.
It was a great practical hands on homeschooling science experience for the whole family. Even Avigail (16 months) got in on the learning or exploring.. Or playing ;)
At $38 for a family (2 Adults, 2 Children plus 2 free babies) it is great value for money.
Isaiah liked the dinosaurs that moved especially the ones you could make move with the levers. He also liked the wheel changing section because his Papa is a tyre fitter ;)
Jarah liked the things that had a ball to demonstrate how it worked. He also played with the gravity tyre things for a very long time.
Amalia did NOT like the dinosaurs but that could be because her dad told her that dinosaurs like to eat little girls. I will have to ask her what she DID like later. She touched everything ;) perfect learning experience for her!! Miss-gotta-touch...
Avigail.. Now she was a little different. She liked to make things challenging for her beloved parents. She didn't want to sit in the pram, be held or not be held. She made her feelings clear and she's not happy. You know the baby who missed her sleep opportunity and then refuses to take it? That was her.. Well.. She wasnt too bad but she wasn't her normal baby-self. I think she misses her Vicki. Avigail was on a thing that you pump air into a tube and it creates a bubble. She wouldn't let ANYONE touch it!! So funny. I sat down next to it and let her go for it. She was probably on it for 20-30 minutes before I rudely yanked her off and away.
They have a 'younger kid' section so I headed into that area for a 'rest' haha with the baby. They had really simple yet still scientific things in it such as the pulley system. When jarah came in he played with blocks for ages and also with the trains. And the ball. His 3 fave things. Ever.
When they closed at 4pm we headed to the kings park park (that we were at yesterday). Mik had a 5:20pm appointment at the Apple store. With an hour to kill and four kids it seemed like a great opportunity to finish off a wonderful day.
The kids loved it.
I had bought a 'spinny thing' that you push a circular thing up and makes it fly. So like the propeller if a helicopter that make 'fly'. Isaiah was playing on the grass under a tree with it. He said it got stuck up the tree. Couldn't see it or find it. He was really disappointed. He tried to climb the play equipment to get a better look. Good idea hey!! Anyway it was well and truly gone. So we prayed. Isaiah asked that God would help us find it. And I prayed too, saying that God knew where it was and if he could make it do we find it easy. I then heard a noise and looked on the ground in that direction. It was on the foot path. It hadn't been there previously. Awesome hey!!
If God cares to answer the prayer for a $2 plastic spinning thing how much more does He care to answer the Prayers for you.
We left and dropped the two geeks in the family at the apple store. Not being able to park I drive around the block. It took near 20 minutes to drive one block (Perth CBD). One traffic light turned red 5 times before I got through it and I was the first in line. I couldn't get through because there were cars banked up with no space for me.
I then parked right out the front of the apple store and wondered where I was. I couldn't find it ðŸ˜ðŸ˜³ and mik messages me he was done. Then I saw it. Haha couldn't have been closer.
We drove back to camp. I had to pull over I was that tired and let mik drive. Avigail stayed awake most of the trip home.
We had fresh meat to look forward to as we returned to camp. BBQ :) mik cooked, I put Avigail to bed, got Jarah in PJs etc.
Then we ate a delicious meal, cleaned up and put the kids to bed.
Our clothes dried while we were away but we are leaving them hanging in the dark overnight to get wet. There's a lot of rain coming our way tonight.
A few other things happened today that are a bit more special. At least when your a kid. Jarah asked if we could buy milo and mik said yes. Amalia used the key to lift the boom gate at camp. Kids took turns to press the lift buttons. Bought nutella for lunch sandwiches. I let Isaiah look at the map on my phone while driving. Usually I'm using my phone so he can't hold it and look at where we are going. We used the map on Miks phone this time. Well on both actually.
I wish we could 'live like this' more often. These times we are spending actively WITH and FOR our kids is invaluable. The opportunities here in Perth are literally endless. The educational experiences are real hands on. I really like it!!
Isaiah (6) learns so much more when he is given the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers, and even more when there is a practical hands on experience. He can tell you why the steam comes out of your mouth. Because the air is cold and your mouth is warm. And that it is steam not smoke because steam is little droplets of water. He can also tell you how it rains. See that? He's a science loving kid!! And he doesn't even know it ;)
He is already asking how many sleeps until we go back. 300 is probably too high a number for him to count down haha poor kid. Makes me want to take him back tomorrow.
I recommend a visit for all ages especially homeschooled kids and for non-science-home-school-mums who need to figure it out before teaching it (although I'm fortunate in that hubby is the science geek and figures it out for me)
But I'm loving this so much that I desire to buy a caravan, strip it out, deck it nicely and travel around!! For more comfort ;)
Next time I pack I'll make a 'breakfast' box with everything we need for breakfast to keep it altogether with less fuss. And bring an extra pot.
Very happy to have hubby with me up here spending this time with the kids and assisting in their education.. Instead of being at work haha ;)
And now it rains ;) brrrr it's cold tonight!!!
Ok so here's the out of order pictures...
